Competition is good.......

Competition is always good. Only for the consumers maybe. Manufacturers will scratch their head trying to figure out the best price to sell their upcoming products.
"Wait and see" might be the better tactic. But sometimes it works only if you are the Lao Da "Big boss" like Intel or Nvidia.

Speaking of Nvidia, the big boss might suffer a bit of pain in the @$ with ATI's new ATI 4850 and 4870 selling at an average of $200 and $300. ATI's new core codenamed RV770 has 956million transistors, processed with 55nm technology. I wonder which layer is the one with 0.055µm? Nvidia is holding up pretty well with 9800GTX+, the additional '+' is referring to the clock speed, more clock speed, but with smaller die.

Display cards are becoming so much cheaper that its hard to put one model up against the other model from a different chipset to compare. With an increase of 10% of cash, you always 30% more performance, making you ending up with at least the SECOND most expensive card.

I think I'll go check out Crossfire ATI 4850's performance ^_^ and maybe Nvidia price slash rumours $_$
